Over the past two years, my professional journey within Make it Max has been characterized by a dedicated focus on key clients like Dan.com, GoDaddy, and Afternic. This journey made me grow in knowledge within the domain marketplace industry.

 

This period of specialization has allowed me to expand my skills in tackling technical challenges and addressing crucial design questions. The commitment in cutting-edge solutions has been huge in contributing to the success of the clients in the fast-growing digital landscape.

GoDaddy stands as one of the biggest domain marketplaces globally, famous for its role in powering the largest cloud platform for small, independent businesses. With over 21 million customers worldwide and the management of a portfolio with more than 84 million domain names.

As a pioneer in the domain aftermarket, Afternic as a full-service has demonstrated its global reach by facilitating the sale of over one hundred thousand domains across more than one hundred countries, with a portfolio of over five million premium domain names available for sale.

Who is Dan.com?

Dan.com is a big marketplace for domain names based in The Netherlands. They focus on making sure buying, selling and transferring domains goes smoothly.

New Design Foundation

In 2021 Dan launched their new Design Foundation that transformed the brand, marking a significant plus in the commitment to empower individuals to pursue their aspirations. The brand is evolving to embrace an inspirational visual identity that amplifies the mission and harmonizes with the simplicity of the tools.

 

Designing

In the past almost 2 years I have been working on multiple projects from big to small. As a UX Designer at Dan.com I focused on maintaining, updating, expanding, renewing and optimizing the application. With key factors in my mind as accessibility, user-friendliness, and functionality.

In this journey, I have had worked with both front-end developers and back-end developers, leveraging my expertise to identify and resolve any technical glitches

​

Design System Management

I also have been responsible overseeing and maintaining the Design System. That has been a key responsibility of mine, ensuring a consistent visual and functional coherence of design guidelines across the entire platform.

​

I could not show all of my work due to company privacy reasons. But below you can see 4 projects that I wanted to highlight. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to tell you more about them.

What I have been working on

Front of Site (FOS)

  • New cookies, privacy and legal management

  • Improved Check-out proces

  • Complete new redesign of the Buyer Control panel 

For Sale pages

  • Streamlined the buying options for the For Sale Pages;

  • All For Sale Pages have been optimized for mobile purchases;

  • Optimizing the Standard For Sale Pages with more options. Now you can choose any colour for your header background.

  • New For Sale Page templates. This version is a more brand-able and informative option for portfolio holders

Customer Area

  • New customer area (portfolio environment) has a more clear way of navigating

  • Transaction window has been updated to make it better readable

  • Settings are updated to clarify selections.

  • Designing and Deploying the new GoValue Pricing Tool. 

  • Assisted with the Redesign of the Sellers Dashboard

  • Redesign and optimization of the Lead import flow

  • Downpayment for LTO

Redesign and optimization of the Buyer Control Panel

I worked with 2 other Designers of Make it Max on the Complete new redesign of the Buyer Control panel with new functions to optimize the experience for end-users, recurring buyers, and domain resellers. Buyers now have full access to their payments & invoices. At the same time, as a reseller or recurring customer, you’ll now be able to manage all your transactions / negotiations within a single buyer control panel. In other worlds a All in one management tool.

Developing the new GoValue Pricing tool

​GoValue, GoDaddy’s machine learning valuation model, uses millions of data points to estimate the value of a domain name. â€‹With Buy It Now (BIN) listings having a higher chance of selling thanks to their integration into Afternic’s Distribution Network, I have made it easier to set BIN prices with the help of GoValue. 

​

Sellers can update pricing based on GoValue either individually through the ‘For Sale’ view or in bulk using the bulk toolbar. Sellers will also notice a new ‘Estimated Value’ column, where they can easily access this feature for individual listings.​

Redesign and optimization of Cookie management

One of my most trickiest projects was the redesign and optimization of our cookie management system, driven by the global GDPR rules and regulations and strictly adhering to guidelines that disallow any form of nudging. Ensuring compliance while maintaining a seamless user experience was paramount.

​

This involved careful consideration of elements like the for-sale pages, call-to-actions, checkout process, and the buyer control panel, with the objective of ensuring that the cookie banner doesn't disrupt the visitor's experience.

 

To achieve this, we implemented a two-layered approach to cookies.

The first cookie layer provides quick and basic management, while the second layer offers a more advanced cookie management and information.

Optimization of the Lead import proces

I have worked on the improvement of the lead import process, now offering the flexibility to import lease to own transactions alongside traditional options. With the new flow you have three choices: Buy Now (BIN), Make Offer, and Lease to Own (LTO). These options provide a tailored approach to importing leads, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience. A detailed form further streamlines the lead import process, empowering you to manage your transactions with precision.

28 June 2022 GoDaddy and Dan.com,

announced that they we're joining forces.

 

Godaddy and Dan.com entered into a definitive agreement to bring Dan's innovative products and engine to one of the most respected brands in domains. By joining forces they can create the best end-to-end solutions to trade and monetize domains for domain owners around the world.

​

This was a milestone for me, as it marked collaborative work across diverse time zones, engaging with professionals from across the globe. The global reach of GoDaddy transcends the boundaries of a physical office, showing the importance of effective collaboration and adaptation to time zones,  leading to amazing outcomes in our projects.

In the past year, I actively participated in multiple projects within Afternic. These encompassed a range of initiatives, including the redesign of the application, the introduction of innovative features, and the execution of FOS (Front Of Site) projects.
